Abutment teeth

This is the teeth that support the partial denture or bridge. The bridge is attached to the abutment tooth, for a partial denture, clasp or rest is used to support the denture.

A traditional method to replace a missing tooth. There are dentures that can be removed daily for cleaning, and there are implant-supported dentures that are permanently attached to the mouth. Dentures can shift in your mouth and can cause a little discomfort, thus it makes it difficult to chew, talk, and smile.

Endosteal Implant

This is the most commonly utilized type of implant, the orthodontist will place small screws, plates, or cylinders directly into the jawbone. Each implant can support at least one prosthetic tooth.

Eposteal Implant

Its support comes directly from the jawbone, this is not commonly used by the orthodontist but it is used when the risk of advanced bone resorption is high in a patient.

Dental implants are also known as a fixture, it is a medical device that connects with your jawbone to support a dental prosthesis, and it can be a bridge, crown, denture, or other facial prostheses. Most dental implants last for most of their lifetime, however, there are instances that it may require replacements.

It is a biological process that makes the dental implant fuse with the existing bone. It improves the strength of the living bone and the load-bearing implant.

Subperiosteal Implant

It holds the prosthetic tooth in place, it sits on top of the jaw with some parts of the metal framework protruding. This is used for patients with minimal bone height or those who are unable to use the conventional dentures.

This metal is lightweight, but very strong, that it reduces the weight of your bone or within your mouth. It can ossify with the bone, thus it can produce a stronger result. It contains a high oxygen affinity, it can then form a thin oxide layer.

To those who are allergic to titanium, they opt for Zirconia implants. It has no prosthetic connections and can lower the risk of bacterial growth. A better gum health is observed with this type of implant.
